Duo Cantaresin muodostavat venezuelalainen Nathaly Gomez ja perulainen Camilo Pajuelo. Duo syntyi Kesällä 2017 Helsingissä. Idea duosta syntyi yhteisestä intohimosta oman kulttuuritaustan musiikkiin ja halusta tehdä tunnetuksi tätä musiikkia Pohjoismaissa. Duo Cantares soittaa tunnelmallista kansanmusiikkia Etelä-Amerikasta.

Laulut kertovat elämästä, rakkaudesta ja heidän synnyinseutunsa kulttuurista. Nathaly ja Camilo ovat laulaneet ja soittaneet kielisoittimia (cuatro / kitara) nuoruudestaan asti.

Cantares is a duo formed by Venezuelan singer Nathaly Gómez and Peruvian multi-instrumentalist and musicologist Camilo Pajuelo. The duo was born in 2017, in Helsinki, inspired on a common passion for the music of its own cultural background and the desire to promote it in the Nordic countries. Cantares has offered its first official concert at the Leppävaara’s church in Espoo, November 2017, which was a successful presentation for a numerous and enthusiastic audience who enjoyed an inspiring selection of Latin American music.

The repertoire of Cantares includes instrumental music and especially songs in Spanish and Portuguese language. These songs are well known worldwide, as versions have been made in different languages. The program includes a variety of musical genres such as joropo, vals, bolero, tonada, merengue, milonga, etc.
